RTI Announces Thomas Baptiste as the Newest Member of the Advisory Board
Baptiste Joins as the Simulation Market Advisor as RTI Brings Advanced Training and Simulation Technology to the IIoT
SUNNYVALE, Calif. – September 6, 2018 – Real-Time Innovations (RTI), the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) connectivity company, today announced Lt Gen Thomas Baptiste as the newest member of RTI's advisory board. Baptiste joins RTI's advisory board as the Simulation market advisor, where he will help increase awareness around the many benefits virtual training and simulation can bring to the military and IIoT markets including aviation and healthcare. As the president and CEO of the National Center for Simulation, Baptiste is a world-renown simulation strategist. He is a retired United States Air Force lieutenant general with more than 30 years of military experience and last served as the deputy chairman of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Military Committee in Brussels, Belgium.
At the National Center for Simulation (NCS), Baptiste strives to expand awareness of modeling and simulation for training and other applications. NCS addresses the military, healthcare, transportation, education and technology sectors. He works towards making simulators more realistic, exciting and engaging. Future simulators will blend synthetic training with live training and interact with live players.
RTI provides the ideal connectivity framework for training and simulation applications and has experienced rapid growth in this Industry. RTI Connext DDS is proven in hundreds of the world’s most mission-critical system designs, such as the National Advanced Driving Simulator, the U.S. Army Synthetic Training Environment (STE) Program and the AMRDEC-SED System Integration Labs. RTI has also partnered with VT MAK, the leading developer of modeling and simulation software, to demonstrate interoperability between HLA Federations and DDS-based systems. As the IIoT market continues to expand, RTI is working to bring the proven success of simulation technology in Aerospace and Defense applications to other commercial markets.
"The simulation market is growing exponentially in aerospace, defense, medical and many other important market applications." said Stan Schneider, CEO of RTI. "Today RTI uniquely runs many real-world systems in these markets. By integrating with simulation, we are in an ideal position to build the next generation of combined simulation and real systems. Since we're also integrated in many military applications, we can work to build cross-service and cross-alliance training capabilities. Tom's deep expertise, stellar connections and military background will be instrumental to our entry into the evolving simulation market."
"Simulators have the potential to significantly reduce the cost of military training while increasing the field readiness of our troops. However, the largest challenge is ensuring the simulator is realistic enough to be accepted by the human operator," said Thomas Baptiste, president and CEO at the National Center for Simulation and advisory board member at RTI. "The integration of live, virtual and constructive simulation is the path that we are moving toward, and RTI's technology is a critical component. I am honored to join the RTI advisory board and look forward to executing our shared vision for the Simulation Industry."
Baptiste will join inaugural advisory board member, Scott McNealy, Automotive advisor KT Neumann, and Energy advisor Raiford Smith, to identify strategic growth opportunities and expand the company's influence in the IIoT. RTI is continuing to recruit additional advisory board members throughout 2018, targeting an influential member in each of the company's key markets of the IIoT.
