RTI to Present Technical Session on Industrial IoT Security at RSA Conference 2016
Participants Will Learn How to Navigate Security Threats and Accelerate Development of Secure Data Using Connectivity Standards
SUNNYVALE, Calif.—Feb. 26, 2016—Real-Time Innovations (RTI), the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) connectivity platform company, today announced that Gerardo Pardo-Castellote, Chief Technology Officer, will be leading a session on security in the IIoT at RSA Conference 2016.
The IIoT encompasses critical national infrastructure, including the power grid, hospitals, transportation infrastructure and manufacturing. Securing these systems is essential for safety, economic and privacy reasons. This is particularly challenging because security cannot come at the expense of reliability or the real-time performance required to control physical-world processes. Even brief unplanned outages can be disastrous. In this hands-on session, participants will get an overview of recent developments in IIoT secure data connectivity standards, explore security threats to the medical IoT and build a secure application that monitors a patient in a demo environment.
"The Industrial IoT is much more demanding than the consumer IoT, and breaches are more consequential," said Gerardo Pardo-Castellote, Chief Technology Officer at RTI. "In the IIoT the volume of data is larger and the systems require protecting real-time data in motion. This task gets increasingly harder as the systems grow in size and complexity. At RTI it is our objective to accelerate IIoT security efforts and continue to help developers secure their connectivity. I look forward to leading this technical session at RSA, the most esteemed technical security conference."
RSA Conference is a five-day, multitrack conference that will take place at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. The event will welcome thousands of executives, engineers and cyber security experts worldwide, to learn about the technologies, trends and people that will connect our digital world.
