RTI Presents "Managing Avionics Safety Certification for Unmanned Aircraft" Complimentary Webinar
RTI and dSPACE Partner to Discuss Challenges and Solutions for Meeting FAA Safety Standards
SUNNYVALE, Calif.—July 23, 2015—Real-Time Innovations (RTI), the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) connectivity platform company, today announced it is hosting a complimentary webinar, "Managing Avionics Safety Certification for Unmanned Aircraft" in partnership with dSPACE, the leading producer of engineering tools for developing and testing mechatronic control systems.
A force multiplier is often used to describe something that gives one military a game-changing tactical edge over others. For the U.S. military, unmanned aircraft platforms have been a force multiplier and will continue to be one. For even more efficient operation and to enable more commercial applications, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and other aviation safety authorities are now opening national airspace to unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). However, to take advantage of airspace integration, unmanned platforms must comply with civil safety standards, such as DO-178 C for flight critical software and DO-254 for hardware. The rules for unmanned system certification are still being defined, but safety certification experts are already applying these standards to future UAS avionics systems.
David Barnett, Vice President, Products and Markets at RTI and Dr. Ulrich Eisemann, Senior Product Manager at dSPACE will discuss the challenges and solutions for managing avionics safety certification in unmanned aircraft.
